Rottweilers get its name from the town ‘Rottweil’
‘Rottweil’ is a small town in Germany, Earlier during 73 or 74 AD when Romans enters and got settled in this town, then started to go to work with their dogs, Rottweilers helped butchers in pulling the cart of goods and meat. Romans also used Rotties as herding dogs and to guard their cattle, livestock, and money. At that time Rottweilers were also used for Bear hunting. Earlier Rottweilers were originally bred by Romans only. After some time Rottweilers got their name from the town ‘Rottweil’.

Rottweilers have the problem of becoming overweight
Rottweilers have the habit of overeating which causes them to put on the extra weight and can make them overweighed, so owners should give them the right amount of Food according to their nutritional requirements. Their diet should be monitored carefully and they should be fed according to their activity level and growth stage, an active Rottweiler should be given more calories as compared to old Rottweiler who is not much activity.
Rottweilers Shed
Rottweilers have a beautiful double-layered coat which consists of Upper Coat and Undercoat. They are known to shed their coat moderately throughout the year but Rotties shed their coat heavily during Spring and Autumn season. During high shedding seasons Grooming of their coat is necessary to maintain the cleanliness of your home otherwise you will observe hairs of Rottweilers scattering all over the floor of your house. Instead of frequent baths you can give Brush them daily to control shedding.
Rottweilers are prone to develop Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia
Although Rottweiler is considered a healthy dog breed but they are also prone to some health issues. Like any other large sized and heavy dog breed, Rotties are prone to have a joint disease called Dysplasia and it is one of the most common joint diseases in dogs. They are prone to have Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia. Symptoms include less activity, lameness, and pain. If you observe any of these symptoms in your Rottie then you should immediately contact your Vet.
Hip Dysplasia: Hip dysplasia is formed due to abnormal formation of the Hip joint. In this condition, the Ball and socket joint don’t form correctly.
Elbow Dysplasia: Elbow dysplasia is a condition which is caused by abnormal formation of the Elbow joint.
